Things to Do in Saariselkä
These are only a part of the services you will find here but I have good experiences with these. It is wise to book in advance, if there are activities you absolutely will take part.
To eat
A cosy, very popular game restaurant. Sauna, ice hole swimming and hot outside tube. 1,5 km from the downtown. Take a taxi or just walk.
The famous fine dining restaurant right in the center of the village .
Italian-Lappish Pizzeria-Restaurant FIENO in the heart of the village, Kiveliöntie 1. Stylish interior, high prices.
On the top of the Kaunispää hill. Big views, nice atmosphere, good dining. Activities like meeting Santa, reindeers. Starting point of the famous 1,8 km long sled slope which is the longest in Finland. Take the ski lift to come here or use Ski Bus (6€/day)
In the middle of the village. Really good pizza, also takeaway. Make a call and then take away.

Please notice: There is a Ski Bus which operates as Hop-on-Hop-off service. The route leads around this village until Kiilopää and Kaunispää fells. Price only 6€/day. Find the time table and map behind the link, or pick up from buses.
To adventure
Go to smoke sauna and swim in a ice hole Kuurankaltio .Take the ski bus or go by ski.
Within a short walk trough initial passage besides Neste gas station. Many ac tivities and events available. Meeting Santa, kids Snowmobile track,( my grandson just loves it!) excursions to Siida Sami Museum, all kind of husky and snowmobile safaries, you just name it! Pick up from your accomodation,thermal clothes including.

Far away (50 km) in Inari, but guided bus excursions available from Northern Lights village. If you want to see what is outside Saariselkä (in addition to beautiful nature), this Sami museum tells you the story of Europes only indigenous people, their culture , history and present. Worth visiting even if you don t like museums. The one and only Sami museum in the world!
All kind of safaris: reindeer, husky, fatbikes, snowmobile, snow shoes. A small family owned business. Reasonable prices.

10 min drive South from Saariselkä a sami family owned reindeer farm. Join reindeer safari programs in an authentic enviroment. Open only by reservation.
If it is too cold outside, try this. Escape room, darts and bowling.
